Helping organizations discover, articulate, and communicate who they are.
Strong brands don't begin with logos or taglines. They begin with clarity.
I help organizations uncover what makes them distinctive, identify the audiences they need to reach, and translate strategy into messaging that is clear, compelling, and authentic. Whether developing a verbal identity, refining a positioning statement, or launching a new initiative, my goal is always the same: create language that reflects who an organization truly is and helps others understand why it matters.

Perspective: Why Choosing a New Logo Feels So Hard
Why Choosing a New Logo Feels So Hard helps organizations understand why logo changes can provoke surprisingly strong reactions — and how to approach the process with empathy, strategy, and a clear understanding of what a visual identity does (and doesn't) represent.
After watching several clients struggle with choosing a new logo, I interviewed some of our senior designers and wrote this essay to help future clients through the process. We now include it in client onboarding and design deliverables to help teams build a shared foundation before the work begins.
Everything we do at Focus Lab is deeply collaborative. I work hand-in-hand with strategists, designers, project managers — and our clients — to transform research and strategy into a verbal identity and living copy that reflects who an organization is and why it matters.
Here are a few of the projects I helped shape as Brand Writer.

Gen AI prompts and instructions for creating website copy in the new brand voice
From the CData rebrand announcement, Evolving Our Brand for the AI Era:
Voice and copy
This might be the change we’re most proud of. Our old copywriting was technically accurate but emotionally inert. It compressed too many ideas into every sentence, centered on the platform instead of the customer’s problem, and led with transformation language that felt aspirational but abstract.
The new voice leads with judgment and stakes. Instead of “Transform your data infrastructure into a unified foundation for analytics and AI,” we say: “Built for data that has to be right.” Nine words that do more work than a paragraph.
Our homepage headline became “CData is the foundation for confident enterprise AI.” The copy that follows it connects directly to the real-world pressure our customers face: live data access, governance that holds up in production, context and control intact.
The shift was deliberate: we lead with what’s true and what’s at stake, not with a list of capabilities. We show restraint to reinforce trust. When everything else in your market is shouting, the confident quiet of a brand that knows what it is becomes the loudest thing in the room.

From the Seamless case study:
Seamless’ previous voice skewed toward individual reps, which had served Seamless well in its early growth phase but left strategic stakeholders without a clear signal that this platform was built for them too. The new Brand Messaging Framework we built together speaks to both without compromising either.
The brand voice is captured in S.E.A.M.: Straightforward, keeping communication succinct and clear; Empowering, bringing human expertise rather than technical distance; Ambitious, with the confidence to take bold, opinionated stances; and Mature, grounded in real experience and earned credibility.
That voice carries through a brand story centered on a single reframe: the hero of the sales story isn't the platform, it's the rep, the VP, the founder trying to hit their number. Seamless is the force multiplier behind them. The mission — giving revenue teams AI tools to find the right person, with the right message, at the right time — extends beyond sales to marketing, customer success, and RevOps, making the case that when revenue teams win, the whole business wins.

From the Iterable rebrand announcement: A Brand Built for What’s Next:
Voice and Tone
Most people don’t meet Iterable through a demo—they meet us through a message. Long before they understand the platform, they’ve already decided whether we sound like someone worth listening to.
For a long time, our voice was careful and restrained. Clear, but hedged. It did the job, but it didn’t sound like a company rewriting how brands use data and AI. It sounded like we were standing at the edge of the conversation, not leading it.
The new voice steps into the room. It’s decisive, grounded, instructive, and catalytic. We don’t meander toward an idea—we say what we think. We don’t just list features—we tell people what they can actually go do.
In practical terms, that looks like:
Making our POV on the future of marketing unmistakable and actionable.
Framing outcomes for customers, not just capabilities for us.
Writing with the confidence of a platform that’s proven at scale.
The goal isn’t to add noise. It’s to add value as a real partner: one who knows what’s possible, says it plainly, and gives you the nudge to move.
